Nestled on the west bank of the Etobicoke Creek, on the north side of Burnhamthorpe Rd., Rockwood Village has evolved as one of Mississauga's most desirable neighbourhoods.

A friendly and safe neighborhood, Rockwood Village is a great place to raise a family. Walking trails, bike paths and green parks abound. Pedestrian and bike bridges connect the area to the East bank of the Etobicoke Creek for access to Centennial Park. Sts. Martha & Mary School is noted as one of the best schools in Mississauga, and is the Catholic school which serves much of the area.

The majority of homes in the area were built in the mid 70's, by Sullivan Homes, with additional units built in the 80's by DeZen and The Georgian Group. The first phase homes featured ensuite baths, and main floor family rooms considered at the time to be very "leading edge" and definitely much more modern than offerings in Markland Wood located on the east side of the Etobicoke Creek. Subsequent phases offer larger homes with more spacious kitchens and baths in keeping with the contemporary modern expectations of the period.The most recent homes are a small conclave of upscale luxury homes that are on the west side of Garnetwood Park just north of Burnhamthorpe Rd.  These home are selling in the $1M range.

Most of the detached homes in Rockwood offer large pool sized lots and many area homes have in-ground pools.

For first time buyers, there is a wide choice of townhomes, semi-detached and linked homes with spacious layouts.  There are a few condominium buildings which also offer spacious units which appeal to those condidering downsizing.

There is a property to accommodate many price points in Rockwood! A single detached 3-bedroom home can be found in the low $500's, and exceptionally spacious condo town homes can be purchased from $400K.

The average price of a 4-bedroom detached home in 2013 is $705,000, however, size and condition of the home are major factors in the selling price. There can be deals for those prepared to spend a little to renovate, but the homes that have been updated are an excellent value for an area so accessible to Toronto.

Public transit service to the Toronto subway and Go Transit, proximity to all major highways, a 10 -15 minute drive to the airport and a 25 minute drive to downtown Toronto, makes Rockwood Village an excellent location. Rockwood Village will have a BRT station at Tahoe, which will link commuters to Erin Mills and the Airport Corporate Centre along Eglinton Ave.

 

Shopping

There are two plaza's in Rockwood Village, both with major grocery stores.  Both Sherway Gardens and Square One Shopping Centres are only a short drive away.
